Mushroom MADNESS!!

Throughout the season, I have seen a LOT of mushrooms. I have no idea what most of them even are, so I'm really just posting these for fun. If anyone can help identify any of these, go on right ahead!

Dog vomit.

Tiny orange mushrooms.

A shelf fungus known as Artist's conch or Bear's bread.

Amanita muscaria var. formosa.

Purple milkcaps.

Wrinkly mushrooms.

Tiny white mushrooms.

White saucers.

Long stem!

Dark mushrooms.

Feathery mushrooms.

Bleeding tooth fungus, or Strawberries and cream. This is a really cool fungus.. it oozes some strange red liquid, and no one knows what it does or why. Eventually the fungus transforms into a flat brown and black saucer with white edges.

Transformation!

Honey mushroom?

The sickener.

More tiny white mushrooms!

Bright yellow cup fungus.. incredibly common this season!

This large mushroom had sticky pores under its cap.

Another mushroom!

Glistening orange mushrooms.

Group of tan mushrooms.

This mushroom reminds me of a drum.

Orange coral fungus.

Dead man's fingers.

Strange brown cup.

Dark brown flaky fungus.

Copper mushrooms.

Flat little mushroom.

Some-what yellow capped mushroom.

These mushrooms were in two neat little rows.

Big purplish mushrooms.

Sunny mushrooms.

Green spot!

...And one last big red mushroom.

So there you have it. That's exactly what you get when you save up 4 month's worth of mushroom pictures.

The End Is Near

I haven't been posting much lately, and that's because the end of the season is approaching! Many of the guides have already left, so that means more shifts for me. I will be coming home on the 23rd, so I only have 6 days left. Until then, I've decided to go back through my photos and post some of the things that I've put aside or forgotten.

Here are some lovely photos that a guest on one of my tours had taken from the whale watching boat. We had a whale come very close.. it was pretty exciting! Being the guide, I have to make sure that all of my guests are getting the best viewing spots for pictures, which means that I don't take my camera out. So here are a few of the best!

Hopefully these pictures will help you to see how majestic Juneau is. I'm very lucky to be able to see this as often as I do.

Fluffy Clouds

It didn't rain today! Instead, the sun lit up all the fluffy white clouds. They were just beautiful out on the water. I didn't have my camera, so these were taken with my phone.

Enjoy the view!

You Can't Always Get What You Want.

The weather wasn't really all that bad today. There was a warm wind this morning, the clouds were moving rapidly, and the sun was even visible for a short while during the hike. None of the morning tours were canceled like we had anticipated. While coming back from the hike today, it started POURING. It was like the clouds unzipped and dumped everything out all at once. It was AWESOME. Needless to say, we got little wet. Strangely enough though, it wasn't cold. And after a while, the heavy rain stopped. A light rain still persists even to this moment.. but then again, it's always raining.

Although I'm always posting nice pictures with plenty of sunshine, that's not very typical for Juneau. Then why don't I ever post any rainy day pictures, you might ask! Well, I simply don't like taking my camera out in the rain! Might get wet.. So in order to better represent the place I've grown to love, here are some shots from the inside of my car while driving to work! These are the typical views I receive while driving.

Pretty amazing, I know. I'm sure you're all quite jealous of the awesome weather we've been having here. Sorry, but you can't always get what you want.

A Storm Moves In..

Well, not much to report lately except for RAIN RAIN RAIN. It rains almost every day, it's gotten colder, and the winds have begun to blow. I put all my rain gear on before ever looking outside because I know what's happening out there- RAIN!

Lately, there is quite a storm brewing! Out on the water today, we could see the rougher seas approaching. We are expecting gale force winds for tomorrow, with over 7 ft seas. If the water tours aren't canceled, I'll have to bring some extra buckets for the passengers. Yay.

Here you can see the storm moving in.

Just look at that low pressure front! Pretty impressive!

I'll make sure to keep you all posted on what the weather's like and if we go out. Should be some pretty good waves tomorrow! :)
